First thing, when a nation or state passes an immoral law, that is a reflection of the wickedness of people’s hearts. Moral barriers and restraint tumble down when God gives people over to sinful inclinations (Romans 1). Both Medical AND recreational Marijuana won the vote in November in South Dakota.
According to South Dakota News Watch’s Bart Pfankuch in the Rapid City Journal on Friday, April 2nd, 2021:
- Medical Marijuana was passed as Initiated Measure 26, goes into effect July 1st, , has deadline for the Department of Health to provide regulation by Oct. 29, 2021 and medical marijuana cards issued to patients by Nov. 18, 2021. The people need to be over 21 years of age and have a specific condition.
- Also, voters passed a constitutional amendment that legalizes recreational marijuana for adults, effective July 1st, 2021. That amendment has been stopped by a circuit judge and will “likely” go to the Supreme Court of South Dakota.
- Governor Noem opposes the legalization in all forms. Other states such as North Dakota, Montana and Minnesota also have approved medical marijuana. Oklahoma has as well, but seems to have loose laws.
The Biblical gospel needs to be preached. The greek word for sorcery in the Bible is the root for the English word “pharmaceuticals”. An ancient religion or oracle would use a drug in their spiritual enterprise. Such people who abuse drugs must repent (turn from sins) to go to heaven (Galatians 5:19-21; Revelation 22:15).
